Domestic violence and abuse affects women across every area of society and can take many different forms (physical, sexual, emotional/psychological, economic, intimidation/threats, isolation). Most importantly, domestic abuse is NEVER YOUR FAULT. There are resources and support available in many countries.

Below, I have listed and linked the contact details for organizations that will help you. Details are usually in the form of a national helpline or sometimes state-level services. All helplines are 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, unless otherwise noted.

These organizations will believe you and be able to provide advice, information about safe refuges (yes, these exist!), referrals to local agencies, safety planning, etc. They will not force you to leave your relationship if you are not ready. I will try to keep these details current and add to them periodically. Also keep in mind that your abuser may be monitoring your phone/computer, including your location, phone calls, messages, and internet activity.

If you are in immediate danger, always use your local emergency number and call the police.
